Maria Kliavkoff is a native New Yorker who spent a number of years working off-Broadway as a director/stage manager while completing her BA in Theatre Arts and Psychology at Hunter College. In 1988 Maria moved to Calgary where she earned her Masters Degree in Theatre Directing. She was an adjunct professor at Mount Royal University for ten years and founding director of education at the Epcor Centre for the Performing Arts for 5 years. She has had a significant role in the professional development of teachers and artists in the Learning Through The Arts program in Calgary. Maria is a personal and professional development facilitator who runs personal development workshops throughout Alberta, British Columbia, and select cities in the U.S. since 2003.
Since 2012 Maria has been the founding Executive Director of the Hospice Society of the Columbia Valley. In 2016 Maria graduated with her Death and Grief Studies Certificate with a specialty in Complicated Grief from the Center for Loss and Life Transition.
In the past ten years Maria has continued to share her inspirational and motivational message as a keynote speaker in both Canada and the United States. She is proud to be a member of the Canadian Association of Public Speakers, Workplace Speakers Network, and the Women Speakers Association.
Maria’s fascination with the process of human growth and the need to express one’s story lead her to create MK Facilitations. Through the work of MK Facilitations, Maria has combined her passions for storytelling and developmental psychology. Using the modalities of Sacred Circle, Spiritual Psychology, and Companioning Maria offers gentle and powerful tools and techniques for discovering your own pathway through grief into healthy mourning so that you can go on to live and love with joy.
